Kelly Owens-Dávalos

A passion for animals and innate sense of curiosity led Kelly to an undergraduate education in Animal Science at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She built her technical animal experience working as an ICU Technician at Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center in Los Olivos, California. There she developed an interest in nutrition and soon traded the west coast for the east coast as she completed her graduate degree in Equine Nutrition from North Carolina State University.

As an educator, Kelly taught subjects such as biology, environmental science, physiology, and geology – most recently in Quito, Ecuador. During each of her three years abroad, Kelly took her students to the living laboratory that is the Galápagos Islands. This amazing opportunity brought to life the flora, fauna, geology, and human impact on the archipelago they had been studying in the classroom. From experience, Kelly believes that hands-on learning is an essential part of any successful curriculum and creates a personal connection between student and subject.

Kelly is excited to assist Conservation Ambassadors in providing wildlife education encounters for learners of all ages. Through creating strategic initiatives for the development, outreach, and administrative branches of the organization, she strives to help Conservation Ambassadors achieve its mission.
